SEE ALSO...

Fibrinogen α Antibody (C-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Fibrinogen alpha (FGA) protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-FGA antibody (C-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. FGA, a key plasma glycoprotein synthesized in the liver, plays a crucial role in the coagulation cascade, particularly in fibrin formation, which is essential for blood clotting and wound healing. Structurally, Fibrinogen consists of three distinct subunits: α, β, and γ, which assemble into a fibrinogen molecule that can be cleaved by thrombin to form fibrin. This structural arrangement enables rapid formation of a stable clot in response to vascular injury, preventing excessive blood loss. FGA cleavage products not only contribute to clot formation but also regulate cell adhesion and migration, display vasoconstrictor and chemotactic properties, and act as mitogens for various cell types, highlighting FGA′s multifaceted role in hemostasis and tissue repair.

According to datasheat, I just confused to know what is actual molecular weight of fibrinogen alpha. Why so much non specific band comes in western blot.

Asked by: Rajkamal
Thank you for your question. Fibrinogen α has two isoforms (with molecular weights of 95 kDa and 70 kDa, respectively) as well as a large number of amino acid modifications which may contribute to differences in observed molecular weight in western blots — the different signals are not unspecific but rather differently modified variants of the Fibrinogen α isoforms.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-398806 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
