Fibrinogen α Antibody (A-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Fibrinogen α in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Fibrinogen α is one of the three subunits of the plasma glycoprotein Fibrinogen, which plays a crucial role in the coagulation cascade, particularly in the formation of Fibrin, the primary component of blood clots. Fibrinogen α is synthesized in the liver and is essential for platelet aggregation, which is vital for hemostasis following tissue injury. Upon vascular damage, Fibrinogen α is cleaved by Thrombin, resulting in Fibrin formation, which not only serves as a scaffold for clot formation but also regulates cell adhesion and spreading. The cleavage products of Fibrinogen α exhibit vasoconstrictor and chemotactic properties, and act as mitogens for various cell types, highlighting Fibrinogen α′s importance in both coagulation and cellular responses to injury. Fibrinogen α is constitutively expressed and can be induced during acute phase reactions, making Fibrinogen α a significant marker for various pathological conditions.
