fibrillin-2 Antibody (H-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects fibrillin-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-fibrillin-2 antibody (H-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Fibrillin-2 plays a crucial role in forming microfibrils, which are essential components of the extracellular matrix that provide structural support and elasticity to connective tissues. These microfibrils are vital for proper assembly of elastic fibers, which are necessary for resilience and flexibility of tissues such as skin, lungs, and blood vessels. Mutations in fibrillin-2 can disrupt this assembly process, leading to conditions such as congenital contractural arachnodactyly, characterized by skeletal abnormalities and other connective tissue disorders. Fibrillin-2 is primarily deposited by epithelial cells into the extracellular matrix in a nonfibrillar form, and interaction with microfibril-associated glycoprotein-1 (MAGP-1) is critical for maintaining microfibril structure integrity. Disruptions in the 8-cysteine motif of fibrillin-2 can significantly affect MAGP-1 binding, potentially exacerbating the severity of related congenital conditions.
