SEE ALSO...

FGF-2 Antibody (C-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-FGF-2 antibody (C-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. FGF-2 plays a crucial role in various biological processes, including angiogenesis, wound healing, and tissue repair, by promoting cell proliferation and differentiation. FGF-2 is primarily located in the extracellular matrix and is secreted by various cell types, which is significant because extracellular presence allows interaction with specific receptors on target cells, thereby initiating signaling pathways that lead to cellular responses. FGF-2 interaction with receptors, which are part of a family of receptor tyrosine kinases, is essential for mediating biological effects, making FGF-2 a key player in developmental processes and pathological conditions such as cancer. FGF-2′s ability to stimulate proliferation of mesenchymal, epithelial, and neuroectodermal cells underscores importance in both normal physiology and disease states.

What blocking solution should I use with FGF-2 (C-2): sc-74412 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335) Our Western blot protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not recognize rat FGF-2I tried this antibody out to detect rat FGF-2. I tested it by running it in a Western blot against recombinant rat FGF-2. This antibody did not detect the protein while other ones did. It did not detect either reduced or non reduced recombinant rat FGF-2.
