FAST-1/2 Antibody (D-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects FAST-1/2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). FAST-1/2 (D-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. FAST-1/2, also known as forkhead activin signal transducer-1, plays a crucial role as a transcription factor that interacts with receptor-regulated Smad proteins, particularly Smad2, to bind to activin response elements on DNA. This interaction is vital for regulating gene expression during embryonic development, tumorigenesis, and maintaining differentiated cell states. FAST-1/2′s structure includes a conserved N-terminal forkhead domain essential for DNA binding, which consists of 110 amino acid residues, and a distinct C-terminal Smad interaction domain that facilitates association with various Smad proteins, including Smad2, Smad3, and Smad4. FAST-1 and FAST-2 expression is predominantly observed during early developmental stages, with diminished levels in adult tissues, highlighting their importance in early developmental processes. FAST-1 and FAST-2 DNA binding activity is modulated by transforming growth factor-beta and activin, indicating their role in mediating TGFβ-induced signal transduction pathways.
