SEE ALSO...

FAPα Antibody (SS-13) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects FAP alpha protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-FAP alpha antibody (SS-13) is available as a non-conjugated format. FAPα, also known as Seprase, is a 760 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene FAP and is a member of the peptidase S9B family. FAP alpha (SS-13) antibody targets a protein that plays a crucial role in tissue remodeling, particularly during development and wound healing, which is significant as FAP alpha may contribute to the invasiveness of malignant cancers. FAPα is known to degrade gelatin and heat-denatured type I and type IV collagen, although FAPα does not cleave native type I or type IV collagen, laminin, fibronectin, fibrin, or casein. FAPα is a single-pass type II membrane protein located on cell surface lamellipodia, invadopodia, and shed vesicles, where FAPα is typically found as a glycosylated homodimer or heterodimer with DPP4. The monomeric form of FAPα is inactive, highlighting the importance of dimerization for functional activity. This unique structural characteristic underscores FAPα′s role in facilitating interactions with other proteins and potential implications in cancer biology.
