    SEE ALSO...

Factor V Antibody (6A5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Factor V protein of human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Factor V (6A5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Factor V protein, a 2,196 amino acid single-chain glycoprotein, plays a crucial role in the blood coagulation cascade, which is vital for hemostasis following tissue injury. Upon cleavage by thrombin, Factor V is converted into an active, calcium-dependent dimer known as Factor Va. This heterodimer is essential for the formation of the prothrombinase complex, which, in conjunction with catalytic Factor Xa and calcium ions on the surface of platelets or endothelial cells, facilitates the conversion of prothrombin to active thrombin. Factor V not only promotes coagulation but also has anticoagulant properties when acting as a cofactor for activated protein C, which selectively degrades Factor Va and Factor Xa. Consequently, mutations or alterations in the Factor V gene can lead to significant clinical conditions, such as hemorrhagic diathesis or thrombosis, underscoring the importance of Factor V in maintaining hemostatic balance.
