ERCC1 Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects ERCC1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ERCC1 plays a crucial role in the DNA repair process, particularly in nucleotide excision repair, where ERCC1 forms a complex with the XPF protein, also known as ERCC4 or ERCC11. This complex is essential for the proper functioning of the structure-specific endonuclease that performs 5′ incisions during DNA repair, thereby facilitating the removal of damaged DNA segments. ERCC1′s importance lies in maintaining genomic stability and preventing mutations that could lead to conditions such as xeroderma pigmentosum, a disorder characterized by heightened sensitivity to UV radiation and an increased risk of skin cancer. By understanding ERCC1′s function and interactions within the DNA repair machinery, researchers can gain insights into the mechanisms of DNA damage response and potential therapeutic targets for enhancing DNA repair in various diseases. Anti-ERCC1 antibody (A-2) serves as an invaluable tool for studying these critical processes in human cells.
