SEE ALSO...

Epac Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Epac protein of mouse, rat, human, and hamster origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Epac antibody (A-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Epac protein, also known as Exchange Protein Directly Activated By cAMP 1, plays a crucial role in cellular signaling by acting as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor that activates the Ras family GTPases, Rap 1 and Rap 2, in a cAMP-dependent manner. Such activation is vital for mediating various physiological responses, including gene expression, cell growth, differentiation, secretion, and neurotransmission, which are essential for maintaining normal cellular functions and responses to external stimuli. The human Epac gene is located on chromosome 12q13.11, with transcript being highly expressed in the kidney and heart, and in situ hybridization studies have shown expression in the adult rat brain, particularly in regions such as the septum and thalamus during neonatal development. These findings highlight the importance of Epac in both developmental and adult physiological processes, making Epac (A-5) antibody a valuable tool for researchers studying cAMP signaling pathways and their implications in health and disease.

Can Epac (A-5): sc-28366 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, Epac (A-5): sc-28366 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.

Does this recognize epac1 or epac2 or both?

Asked by: Marina1
Thank you for your question. This mouse monoclonal antibody, Epac (A-5): sc-28366, is raised against the gene product of RAPGEF3, also designated Epac or Epac1. The Uniprot accession number for the full length protein is O95398. You can find a description with links to NCBI for the gene and protein information on our product page, under the tab "Gene Info" next to "Description" about half way down the page (below the ordering information). https://www.scbt.com/scbt/product/epac-antibody-a-5
