EMID1 Antibody (G-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects EMID1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). EMID1, or EMI domain containing 1, is a 441 amino acid secreted protein characterized by the presence of one collagen-like domain and one EMI domain, which features seven conserved cysteines that may facilitate dimerization, a critical process for functional activity. EMID1 plays a significant role in cellular signaling and extracellular matrix interactions, essential for maintaining tissue integrity and regulating various biological processes, including cell adhesion and migration. The EMID1 gene, located on human chromosome 22q12.2, is highly conserved across multiple species, including chimpanzees, dogs, cows, mice, rats, chickens, and zebrafish, and exists in three alternatively spliced isoforms. Chromosome 22 is notable for association with several genetic disorders, including Phelan-McDermid syndrome and Neurofibromatosis type 2, as well as a susceptibility locus for schizophrenia, highlighting the importance of studying EMID1 in understanding complex diseases.
