  • raised against eosinophils of human origin
  • EMBP Antibody (BMK13) is recommended for detection of EMBP irrespective of the stages of eosinophil activation of human origin by WB, IF and IHC(P); also recommended for detection of the 23.8 kDa secreted pro-form of PRG2 also known as MBP(pregnancy-associated MBP) and the 13.8 kDa mature form found in the matrix of the eosinophil large specific granule
  • Anti-EMBP Antibody (BMK13) is available conjugated to agarose for IP; HRP for WB, IHC(P) and ELISA; and to either phycoerythrin or FITC for IF, IHC(P) and FCM
  • also available conjugated to Alexa Fluor® 488, Alexa Fluor® 546, Alexa Fluor® 594 or Alexa Fluor® 647 for WB (RGB), IF, IHC(P) and FCM, and for use with RGB fluorescent imaging systems, such as iBright™ FL1000, FluorChem™, Typhoon, Azure and other comparable systems
  • also available conjugated to Alexa Fluor® 680 or Alexa Fluor® 790 for WB (NIR), IF and FCM; for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR®Odyssey®, iBright™ FL1000, FluorChem™, Typhoon, Azure and other comparable systems
  • m-IgG Fc BP-HRP and m-IgG1 BP-HRP are the preferred secondary detection reagents for EMBP Antibody (BMK13) for WB and IHC(P) applications. These reagents are now offered in bundles with EMBP Antibody (BMK13) (see ordering information below).

EMBP Antibody (BMK13) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the eosinophil major basic protein (EMBP) of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Anti-EMBP antibody (BMK13) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The eosinophil major basic protein, also known as MBP, PRG2, proteoglycan 2, BMPG, or bone marrow natural killer cell activator, is a critical component of the crystalline core of eosinophil granules, playing a significant role in the immune response. EMBP is primarily located in eosinophils, which are white blood cells involved in combating parasitic infections and mediating allergic reactions. The presence of EMBP in eosinophils is crucial for their cytotoxic activity against helminths and contributes to the pathophysiology of various allergic diseases. Additionally, EMBP is known to interact with other proteins, such as pregnancy-associated plasma protein A (PAPPA), angiotensinogen (AGT), and C3dg, particularly during pregnancy, where it forms complexes that may influence immune responses. The regulation of EMBP transcription involves intricate interactions among transcription factors such as GATA-1, PU.1, and C/EBPε isoforms, highlighting its importance in both normal physiology and disease states.
