ELOVL5 Antibody (E-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects ELOVL5 in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ELOVL5 antibody (E-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The elongation of very long chain fatty acids protein 5 (ELOVL5), also known as HELO1 (human elongase 1), plays a crucial role in the elongation of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, specifically those with carbon chain lengths of 18 to 20. This function is vital as ELOVL5 regulates the activity of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα), which is essential for lipid metabolism and energy homeostasis. ELOVL5 is predominantly expressed in the adrenal gland and testis, but can also be found in lung, brain, and prostate tissues, highlighting its significance in various physiological processes. ELOVL5 localizes to the sebaceous glands in the pheromone-producing regions of the skin, suggesting a potential role in pheromone production and regulation, which may have implications for social and reproductive behaviors in mammals.
