Elastase-3A Antibody (14-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the Elastase-3A protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Elastase-3A antibody (14-3) is available as a non-conjugated format. Elastase-3A, also known as ELA3A or ELA3, is a 270 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in the digestive system as an alanine-specific protease. Secreted as a zymogen from the pancreas, Elastase-3A is activated in the intestine where Elastase-3A hydrolyzes a variety of proteins, particularly those rich in alanine residues, facilitating metabolic degradation. This enzymatic activity is vital for proper nutrient absorption and digestion, and Elastase-3A is also implicated in the metabolism and transport of cholesterol molecules within the intestinal environment. Notably, altered expression levels of Elastase-3A have been linked to pancreatic ductal carcinoma, a highly aggressive form of cancer affecting the pancreatic ducts, highlighting the importance of this protein in both digestive health and disease pathology.

Can sc-100527: Elastase-3A (14-3) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-100527: Elastase-3A (14-3) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
