eIF6 Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects eIF6 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-eIF6 antibody (A-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. eIF6, also known as eukaryotic translation initiation factor 6, plays a crucial role in protein synthesis regulation by facilitating 60S ribosomal subunit transport from nucleolus to cytoplasm, preventing premature assembly with 40S subunit and inhibiting 80S initiation complex formation. This regulation maintains proper ribosomal function and ensures efficient translation, essential for cell growth and proliferation. eIF6 consists of 245 amino acids and localizes in both cytoplasm and nucleolus, with specific nucleolar localization sequences present in N-terminal and C-terminal subdomains. eIF6 undergoes post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation via RACK1/PKC pathway, leading to dissociation from 60S subunit, further influencing ribosomal assembly and function. eIF6 upregulation has been linked to various cancers, including ovarian cancer, indicating potential role in carcinogenesis and making eIF6 a significant target for cancer research.
