SEE ALSO...

eIF2Bβ Antibody (P-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the eIF2B beta protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). eIF2Bβ (P-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The eIF2B beta protein plays a crucial role in the regulation of protein synthesis initiation in eukaryotic cells, functioning as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor that facilitates the exchange of GDP for GTP on the eIF2 complex. This process is vital for the formation of the eukaryotic initiation complex, which is essential for the accurate translation of mRNA into proteins. The eIF2B complex is composed of five subunits: eIF2Bα, eIF2Bβ, eIF2Bγ, eIF2Bδ, and eIF2Bε, with the eIF2Bε subunit exhibiting GEF activity that is significantly enhanced in the presence of the other subunits. Notably, the phosphorylation of eIF2 can inhibit the GEF activity of eIF2B, a process that is dependent on the eIF2Bα subunit, highlighting the intricate regulatory mechanisms that control protein synthesis and the potential implications for cellular stress responses.

Are there any issues with using sc-9979: eIF2Bβ (P-4) mouse monoclonal primary antibody on mouse samples?

Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent,we recommend using a directly conjugated primary antibody. Please contact our special orders department for pricing and availability of sc-9979 conjugates.
