
Eg5 Antibody (D-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Eg5 in mouse samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Eg5, also known as kinesin-like protein KIF11 or TRIP5, plays a crucial role in eukaryotic cell division as a slow, plus-end-directed microtubule-based motor protein belonging to the BimC kinesin family. Eg5 (D-7) antibody facilitates bipolar spindle formation, which is essential for accurate chromosome segregation during mitosis. When Eg5 expression is inhibited, centrosome migration is disrupted, leading to a halt in cell division and the formation of monoastral microtubule arrays, which can have significant implications for cellular proliferation and cancer development. Eg5 undergoes post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation on serine residues during the S phase and on both serine and threonine 927 during mitosis, which are critical for regulating interaction with the spindle apparatus, particularly during early prophase. Furthermore, Eg5 is a member of the thyroid receptor interacting protein family and interacts with the thyroid hormone receptor only in the presence of thyroid hormone, highlighting potential role in hormone signaling pathways.
