Eg5 Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Eg5 protein of mouse origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Eg5 antibody (A-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Eg5, also known as KIF11 or kinesin family member 11, plays a crucial role in cell division by facilitating bipolar spindle formation, which is essential for proper chromosome segregation during mitosis. This motor protein localizes to the mitotic spindle and drives microtubule movement, ensuring accurate chromosome alignment and separation into daughter cells. Disruption of Eg5 function can lead to severe mitotic defects, including monoastral microtubule array formation and cell cycle arrest, highlighting Eg5′s importance in maintaining genomic stability. Eg5 undergoes post-translational modifications, such as phosphorylation during different cell cycle phases, which regulate spindle apparatus activity and interaction, further underscoring Eg5′s critical role in cellular dynamics.
