    SEE ALSO...

EF-G2 Antibody (E-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects EF-G2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-EF-G2 antibody (E-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. EF-G2, also known as elongation factor G2, ribosome-releasing factor 2 (mitochondrial), GFM2, or MSTP027, is a crucial component of mitochondrial translation, which is essential for maintaining mitochondrial function and preventing mitochondrial DNA impairment. This 779 amino acid protein belongs to the GTP-binding elongation factor family and EF-G/EF-2 subfamily, and is primarily localized in the mitochondrion. EF-G2 plays a vital role in ribosome recycling by directly interacting with mitochondrial ribosome recycling factor (MRRF) on the large subunit of the ribosome, facilitating ribosome dissociation from mRNA. The gene encoding EF-G2 is located on human chromosome 5q13.3 and exists in five alternatively spliced isoforms, with high expression levels found in adult heart, skeletal muscle, kidney, and both adult and fetal liver. Understanding EF-G2 function is critical, as EF-G2 ensures the efficiency of mitochondrial protein synthesis, which is necessary for proper cellular metabolism and energy production.

What blocking solution should I use with EF-G2 (E-10): sc-514242 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

    Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335). Our Western blot protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting
