EDEM Antibody (D-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects EDEM protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). EDEM (D-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. EDEM protein plays a crucial role in the endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) pathway, which is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis by ensuring that misfolded or improperly assembled proteins are efficiently identified and targeted for degradation. Specifically, EDEM functions by recognizing misfolded glycoproteins and facilitating their extraction from the calnexin cycle, thereby promoting their retrotranslocation to the cytoplasm for proteasomal degradation. This process is vital for preventing the accumulation of dysfunctional proteins that could lead to cellular stress and disease. The human EDEM gene is located on chromosome 3p, highlighting its evolutionary conservation and importance across species.
