Ebi3 Antibody (H-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b light chain antibody that detects Epstein-Barr virus-induced gene 3 (Ebi3) in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Ebi3 is a crucial component of the interleukin-12 family, functioning as a homolog to the IL-12 p40 subunit protein. Ebi3 forms heterodimers with either IL-12 p35 or its homolog p28, resulting in the production of the cytokine IL-27, which plays a significant role in the immune response by promoting the rapid clonal expansion of naive CD4+ T cells. The regulation of Ebi3 is particularly important as Ebi3 can antagonize IL-12, thereby inhibiting the development of a Th1 immune response, which is vital for combating intracellular pathogens and tumors. Ebi3 is notably expressed in Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg cells, regardless of the Epstein-Barr virus status, suggesting a potential role in evading effective anti-tumor or anti-viral immune responses. The human Ebi3 gene is located on chromosome 19p13.3 and encodes a secreted glycoprotein that is predominantly expressed in the spleen, tonsils, and at elevated levels in the full-term placenta, highlighting Ebi3′s importance in both immune regulation and potential implications in various diseases. Anti-Ebi3 antibody (H-6) is an essential tool for researchers investigating the complex roles of Ebi3 in immune responses and pathological conditions.
