Ebi3 Antibody (F-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects Epstein-Barr virus-induced gene 3 (Ebi3) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Ebi3 is a crucial component of the interleukin-12 family, functioning as a homolog to the IL-12 p40 subunit and forming heterodimers with IL-12 p35 or its homolog p28 to produce the cytokine IL-27. This cytokine plays a significant role in the immune response by promoting the rapid clonal expansion of naive CD4+ T cells, which is essential for initiating effective adaptive immunity. The regulation of Ebi3 expression is influenced by interferon-beta, which modulates the levels of various IL-12 family members in activated human dendritic cells, highlighting its importance in immune signaling. Notably, Ebi3 is highly expressed in Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg cells, suggesting its potential role in evading anti-tumor immune responses. The human Ebi3 gene is located on chromosome 19p13.3 and encodes a secreted glycoprotein predominantly found in the spleen, tonsils, and at elevated levels in the full-term placenta, making Ebi3 a valuable target for research in immunology and cancer biology. Anti-Ebi3 antibody (F-7) is an essential tool for scientists investigating the complex interactions within the immune system and the mechanisms of immune evasion in tumors.
