E-FABP Antibody (A-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects E-FABP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-E-FABP antibody (A-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. E-FABP, also known as epidermal-type fatty acid-binding protein, is a member of the fatty acid-binding protein family, which consists of cytoplasmic proteins crucial for lipid and carbohydrate metabolism. These proteins facilitate uptake, transport, and targeting of fatty acids and hydrophobic ligands within specific tissues, employing mechanisms that include both passive diffusion and protein-mediated transmembrane transport. E-FABP is predominantly expressed in the epidermis and plays a significant role in keratinocyte differentiation, binding to stearic acid and influencing cellular processes. Notably, E-FABP is upregulated in rat dorsal root ganglia following sciatic nerve injury and during neuronal differentiation, highlighting its importance in both developmental and regenerative contexts. The ability of E-FABP to interact with various signaling pathways underscores its potential as a therapeutic target in conditions related to lipid metabolism and nerve regeneration.
