Drebrin Antibody (C-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Drebrin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Drebrin antibody (C-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Drebrins, also known as developmentally regulated brain proteins, are cytoplasmic proteins that bind F-actin within the brain, essential for cell migration, neuronal process extension, and dendrite plasticity. Drebrin exists in three isoforms—two embryonic types (E1 and E2) and one adult type (A)—produced through alternative RNA splicing from a single Drebrin gene on chromosome 5. While primarily expressed in brain neurons, Drebrin is also found in skeletal muscle, heart, placenta, pancreas, and kidney, highlighting diverse biological significance. Drebrin serves as a marker of dendritic spines, and decreased Drebrin levels in the brain have been linked to neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer′s disease and Down syndrome, underscoring Drebrin′s importance in maintaining neuronal health and function.
