DGAT1 Antibody (G-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects DGAT1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DGAT1, also known as acyl-coenzyme A:diacylglycerol acyltransferase, is a crucial microsomal enzyme that catalyzes the final and committed step in the synthesis of triacylglycerol, utilizing diacylglycerol and fatty acyl CoA as substrates. This enzyme plays a vital role in lipid metabolism, particularly in the conversion of excess carbohydrates into triglycerides, which are essential for efficient energy storage. The proper functioning of DGAT1 is critical for various physiological processes, including intestinal fat absorption, lipoprotein assembly, and adipose tissue formation. Notably, DGAT1 is predominantly expressed in adipose tissue, where DGAT1 contributes to basal triglyceride synthesis, and DGAT1 absence in mice leads to increased energy expenditure and resistance to obesity. Furthermore, DGAT1 deficiency results in a complete inability to secrete milk in these mice, highlighting DGAT1′s importance in triglyceride synthesis within the mammary gland. anti-DGAT1 antibody (G-6) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying lipid metabolism and related disorders, providing insights into the mechanisms underlying energy storage and utilization in human physiology.
