SEE ALSO...

DGAT1 Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects DGAT1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-DGAT1 antibody (A-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. DGAT1, also known as acyl-coenzyme A:diacylglycerol acyltransferase, plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by catalyzing the final and committed step in triacylglycerol synthesis, utilizing diacylglycerol and fatty acyl CoA as substrates. This enzymatic activity is vital for converting excess carbohydrates into triglycerides, which are essential for energy storage and metabolic homeostasis. DGAT1 is predominantly located in the endoplasmic reticulum of cells, where DGAT1 facilitates triglyceride assembly, thereby influencing processes such as intestinal fat absorption, lipoprotein assembly, and adipose tissue formation. DGAT1 expression is significantly higher in adipose tissue, underscoring DGAT1′s importance in maintaining energy balance and preventing obesity. Mice deficient in DGAT1 exhibit increased energy expenditure and resistance to obesity, while those lacking both copies of the gene are unable to secrete milk due to impaired triglyceride synthesis in the mammary gland, highlighting DGAT1′s critical role in both metabolic regulation and lactation.

will this antibody reactive to mouse tissue and cells?

Asked by: Le Xiong
Thank you for your question. We do not recommend sc-271934 DGAT(A-5) antibody for mouse samples. There is a 67% homology for mouse. We only recommend if the homology is 95% or higher.

What is the difference between DGAT1 (A-5) and DGAT1 (G-6) antibody? Which one do you recommend for WB with Huh 7.5 cell?

Asked by: Katsuki
Thank you for your question. These are two different mouse monoclonal antibodies both suitable for Western blot of human DGAT1. They are different isotypes and have different epitopes. We have not tested either antibody in Huh 7.5 cells.
