Dermcidin Antibody (E-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Dermcidin in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Dermcidin is a crucial antimicrobial peptide encoded by the Dermcidin gene, which is constitutively expressed in sweat glands and secreted into sweat, playing a vital role in the innate immune response by providing a barrier against various pathogenic microorganisms. The presence of Dermcidin on the epidermal surface helps maintain skin integrity and protect against infections, particularly in areas prone to microbial invasion. Research has shown that overexpression of Dermcidin in breast cancer cells is associated with enhanced cell growth and survival, which correlates with a focal copy number gain of its locus on human chromosome 12q13.2. This dual role of Dermcidin in innate immunity and cancer biology makes anti-Dermcidin antibody (E-7) valuable for studying these diverse functions in both health and disease.
