DEDD Antibody (G-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects DEDD (Death Effector Domain-containing DNA binding protein) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DEDD plays a crucial role in apoptosis, which is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis by eliminating unwanted or damaged cells. DEDD is primarily located in the cytoplasm but translocates to the nucleus during CD95-mediated apoptosis, where DEDD localizes to nucleoli-like structures. This nuclear localization allows DEDD to activate caspase-6, a key player in the apoptotic pathway, while simultaneously inhibiting RNA polymerase I-dependent transcription, thereby regulating gene expression during cell death. The unique structure of DEDD, particularly its N-terminal death effector domain, is critical for function, as this domain facilitates DNA binding and caspase-6 activation, distinguishing DEDD from classical death effector domains found in other proteins like FADD or caspase-8. The human DEDD gene is located on chromosome 1q23.3 and undergoes alternative splicing, resulting in two transcript variants that encode the same protein. anti-DEDD antibody (G-6) is widely expressed across various tissues, with highest expression levels found in the testis, making anti-DEDD antibody (G-6) a valuable tool for studying apoptosis and its regulatory mechanisms in different biological contexts.
