Decorin Antibody (9XX) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the Decorin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Decorin antibody (9XX) is available as a non-conjugated format. Decorin is a crucial small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) that plays a significant role in the extracellular matrix (ECM) by interacting with collagen types I, II, and IV, thereby influencing collagen fibril assembly and stability. Decorin consists of a core protein featuring ten leucine-rich repeats, which are essential for structural integrity and functionality, as these repeats provide sites for glycosylation and are flanked by disulfide bond-stabilizing loops. This unique structure enables Decorin to bind not only to collagen but also to various growth factors and intercellular matrix molecules, such as Fibronectin and Thrombospondin, facilitating important cellular processes. Additionally, Decorin acts as a negative modulator of transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ), which is vital for regulating cellular growth and differentiation. The human Decorin gene is located on chromosome 12q21.33 and encodes a 359 amino acid protein, making Decorin an essential component in maintaining tissue homeostasis and regulating inflammatory responses, particularly in joint diseases where expression may be altered.
