DDB1 Antibody (C-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects DDB1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DDB1, a crucial component of the damaged DNA binding protein complex, plays a vital role in the cellular response to DNA damage, particularly in the repair of ultraviolet light-induced lesions. DDB1 is primarily located in the nucleus, where DDB1 participates in the nucleotide excision repair pathway, ensuring the integrity of the genome by recognizing and binding to damaged DNA sites. Nuclear localization of DDB1 enables timely repair of DNA, preventing mutations that could lead to cancer and other genetic disorders. DDB1 interacts with various proteins, including DDB2, to form a heterodimer essential for the recognition of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers, a common form of UV-induced DNA damage. Mutations in the DDB2 gene can lead to xeroderma pigmentosum group E, underscoring the critical nature of DDB1′s function in maintaining genomic stability. DDB1 facilitates the repair of UV-induced DNA damage, making DDB1 essential for cellular health and a potential biomarker for understanding the mechanisms underlying skin cancer and other UV-related pathologies.
