DBP Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects vitamin D-binding protein (DBP) of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-DBP antibody (A-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Vitamin D-binding protein (DBP) is a multifunctional serum protein that plays a crucial role in transporting vitamin D and its metabolites to target organs within the vitamin D endocrine system, essential for maintaining calcium homeostasis and bone health. DBP exhibits immunomodulatory properties, binding to leukocyte surfaces and enhancing immune responses. DBP is located in the extracellular space, primarily in the serum, where DBP interacts with various cell types, facilitating diverse cellular functions. DBP binds to chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans on cell membranes, which is vital for cell signaling and immune response modulation. DBP serves as a co-chemotactic factor for C5a, enhancing chemotactic activity, and has a high-affinity interaction with globular actin, contributing to actin clearance from the bloodstream. DBP′s ability to bind to cell surfaces and interact with other proteins underscores DBP′s importance in various biological processes, including osteoclast differentiation and immune regulation.
