Cytokeratin 16 Antibody (E-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Cytokeratin 16 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Cytokeratin 16 (E-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cytokeratin 16 belongs to the cytokeratin family, consisting of intermediate filament proteins crucial for maintaining epithelial cell structural integrity. Expression of Cytokeratin 16 is particularly important in squamous cell carcinoma, serving as a marker for identifying tumor origin and aiding in metastatic tumor diagnosis. Cytokeratin 16 appears in benign stratified squamous epithelium and squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, as well as in luminal cells of mammary glands and sweat ducts, while remaining absent in noninvasive breast carcinomas and normal breast tissue. Mutations in Cytokeratin 16 are associated with various diseases, including pachyonychia congenita type 1, nonepidermolytic palmoplantar keratoderma, and unilateral palmoplantar verrucous nevus, highlighting Cytokeratin 16′s significance in both normal physiology and disease states.
