Cytokeratin 14 Antibody (LL001) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Cytokeratin 14 in mouse, rat, human, and porcine samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-Cytokeratin 14 antibody (LL001) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cytokeratin 14, also known as KRT14, is a vital component of the cytoskeleton in epithelial cells, playing a crucial role in maintaining cellular integrity and resilience. Cytokeratin 14 is predominantly located in the basal layer of the epidermis, forming part of the intermediate filament network that provides mechanical support and stability to keratinocytes. Cytokeratin 14 expression helps protect against mechanical stress and contributes to the skin′s barrier function. Mutations in Cytokeratin 14 can lead to conditions such as epidermolysis bullosa simplex, a genetic disorder characterized by skin fragility and blistering. Cytokeratin 14 serves as a marker for epithelial differentiation and aids in diagnosing various skin malignancies, including Bowen′s disease, where expression patterns can indicate neoplastic changes. Human Cytokeratin 14 gene is located on chromosome 17q12-21, highlighting significance in both normal physiology and disease states.

Normally, I incubate my samples with primary antibodies overnight and then with secondary antibodies for 2 h, but in this case, since it is already conjugated, I am assuming the overnight incubation is enough, right?

Asked by: Alice28
As conjugated primary antibodies do not require a secondary antibody, this would be correct. Please contact your local distributor or technical service for further assistance.

Is it possible to use the HRP conjugated form sc-53253 HRP in both Western Blot and IP?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your inquiry. We do not recommend the use of the HRP conjugated form in IP. The unconjugated form of the antibody is the best choice when working in multiple applications that do not use the same conjugation (Agarose, Biotin, HRP, FITC, etc.).
