Cytokeratin 13 Antibody (Ks13.1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Cytokeratin 13 (CK13) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). CK13 is a crucial component of the intermediate filament family, forming a heterotetramer with two type I acidic and two type II basic keratins, and typically associates with Cytokeratin 4. Anti-CK13 antibody (Ks13.1) recognizes proteins predominantly located in the cytoskeletal region of noncornified stratified squamous epithelia, where CK13 plays a vital role in maintaining cellular integrity and structural support. CK13 expression is particularly significant in squamous cell carcinomas, serving as a marker for tissue differentiation and aiding in malignant tumor characterization. Additionally, defects in the KRT13 gene, which encodes CK13, are linked to white sponge nevus of Cannon, a rare autosomal dominant disorder characterized by soft, white, spongy plaques in the oral mucosa. CK13 monoclonal antibody (Ks13.1) serves as an essential tool for researchers studying epithelial tissue dynamics, cancer biology, and genetic disorders associated with keratin mutations.
