Cytochrome c Antibody (7H8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody raised against full-length denatured human cytochrome c, reacting with mouse, rat, human, equine, and avian species. Cytochrome c, also known as CYC or CYCS, is a small heme protein located in the mitochondrial intermembrane space. A heme group covalently attached to a polypeptide chain forms a compact globular protein essential for function. This structure enables cytochrome c to transfer electrons between Complex III (cytochrome bc1 complex) and Complex IV (cytochrome c oxidase) in the electron transport chain, vital for ATP production during oxidative phosphorylation. Cytochrome c interacts with apoptotic protease activating factor-1 (Apaf-1) upon release into the cytosol, leading to apoptosome formation and activation of caspase-9 and caspase-3 in the intrinsic pathway of apoptosis. Understanding cytochrome c structural features is important because alterations can impact roles in both energy metabolism and programmed cell death. Cytochrome c (7H8) monoclonal antibody is suitable for applications such as western blotting, immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemistry on paraffin-embedded sections. Cytochrome c antibody (7H8) enables researchers to study mitochondrial function, apoptosis mechanisms, and related cellular processes critical for insights into various physiological and pathological conditions.

Is there any data showing this antibody is specific to cytochrome C?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. We have immunofluorescence data with methanol fixed HeLa cells treated with siRNA to show knockdown of signal, confirming specificity to cytochrome C.
