Cytochrome b5 type B Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects cytochrome b5 type B protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-cytochrome b5 type B antibody (F-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cytochrome b5 type B, also known as OMB5 or CYB5-M, is a 146 amino acid membrane-bound hemoprotein that plays a crucial role as an electron carrier for several membrane-bound oxygenases, facilitating essential biochemical reactions in cellular metabolism. Cytochrome b5 type B is primarily located in the outer mitochondrial membrane, where presence is vital for proper functioning of various enzymatic processes, including fatty acid desaturation and drug metabolism. Cytochrome b5 type B localization in the outer mitochondrial membrane underscores importance in maintaining mitochondrial function and energy production, as well as involvement in regulation of metabolic pathways critical for cellular homeostasis. Cytochrome b5 type B is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 16q22.1, a region associated with several genetic disorders, highlighting potential implications of dysfunction in various diseases.
