    SEE ALSO...

Cystatin D Antibody (F-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects cystatin D protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-cystatin D antibody (F-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cystatin D, a member of the cystatin superfamily, plays a crucial role as a cysteine protease inhibitor, specifically targeting cathepsins involved in protein degradation and turnover. Such regulation is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing excessive proteolysis, which can lead to tissue damage and contribute to various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. Cystatin D is predominantly found in the extracellular space, where this protein helps protect tissues from proteolytic enzymes, playing a significant role in the oral cavity and other bodily fluids. Understanding cystatin D function and importance can provide insights into potential therapeutic applications, particularly in conditions where protease activity is dysregulated.

    Asked by: Barbara Manconi
"This antibody is specific for amino acids 22-53 at the N-terminus of cystatin D of human origin. There are two proteoforms of cystatin D with cysteine or arginine as amino acid 26. Which proteoform is recognized? Does the antibody cross-react?" Thank you for your question. No antigen mapping has been performed for this antibody, so the exact binding site on its epitope is not known. We currently have no data on whether only one or both proteoforms of Cystatin D are recognized by this antibody. Please contact our technical service directly for further information or to arrange for a sample of this antibody to try it out in your application.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-398553 P appropriate for?

    Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
