SEE ALSO...

CYP1A2 Antibody (3B8C1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CYP1A2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-CYP1A2 antibody (3B8C1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CYP1A2, also known as Cytochrome P450 1A2, is a crucial heme-thiolate monooxygenase enzyme that plays a significant role in the NADPH-dependent electron transport pathway within liver microsomes. As a member of the cytochrome P450 family, CYP1A2 is responsible for oxidizing various substrates, including fatty acids, steroids, and xenobiotics, which is vital for drug metabolism and detoxification processes. CYP1A2 metabolizes several clinically important drugs, such as imipramine, propranolol, and clozapine, highlighting its importance in pharmacokinetics and personalized medicine. CYP1A2 is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, where compounds like 3-methylcholanthrene, insulin, modafinil, and hyperforin induce expression, while fluoroquinolone antibiotics, caffeine, fluvoxamine, and cimetidine can inhibit activity. CYP1A2′s role in estrogen metabolism has been linked to reduced breast cancer risk, underscoring its significance in both drug metabolism and cancer research.

re: CYP1A2 (3B8C1): sc-53614 - What was the precise antigen used to prepare the MnAb? What does the MnAb cross-react with?

Asked by: hlll
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we do not have any precise information about which antigen was used to develop this monoclonal antibody. It was raised against cytochrome P450 protein of rat origin, but the exact antigen sequence is not known. This antibody is recommended for detection of CYP1A2 of mouse, rat and human origin.

I am using CYP1A2 (3B8C1): sc-53614 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
