CYP17A1 Antibody (G-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 antibody that detects CYP17A1 in human samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CYP17A1, also known as 17alpha-hydroxylase/17,20-lyase, plays a pivotal role in steroidogenesis by catalyzing the conversion of pregnenolone and progesterone into dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and androstenedione, which are essential precursors for sex steroid synthesis. CYP17A1′s activity is crucial for normal sexual development during fetal growth and puberty, while maintaining hormonal balance in adults. CYP17A1 functions in the mitochondria of steroidogenic tissues, regulated by cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels, highlighting CYP17A1′s significance in the endocrine system. Mutations in the CYP17A1 gene can lead to adrenal hyperplasia type V, a condition disrupting normal sexual differentiation and resulting in severe clinical manifestations such as hypokalemia and hypertension. Anti-CYP17A1 antibody (G-4) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying steroid metabolism and related disorders, providing insights into molecular mechanisms underlying adrenal function and sexual development.
