CRP Antibody (HD2-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects C-reactive protein (CRP) in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). CRP is a crucial acute-phase protein produced by liver epithelial cells, playing a significant role in the body′s immune response during inflammation. CRP (HD2-4) antibody recognizes a protein whose primary function is to bind to phosphocholine on the surface of dead or dying cells and some bacteria, which facilitates their clearance by phagocytes, thereby enhancing the host defense system. The cyclic pentameric structure of CRP allows for effective ligand binding, and CRP expression is primarily induced by interleukin-6, with additional modulation by interleukin-1 and steroids. Notably, testosterone is essential for the in vivo expression of the CRP transgene, highlighting the interplay between hormones and immune response. During acute-phase responses, cytokines such as C5a work synergistically with interleukin-6 and interleukin-1β to upregulate CRP production, underscoring CRP′s importance in the inflammatory process. CRP also interacts with various receptors, including Fc gamma receptors, to opsonize particles for phagocytosis, further emphasizing CRP′s critical role in innate immunity. With CRP′s ability to bind to autoantigens and chromatin, anti-CRP antibody (HD2-4) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying inflammation and immune function.
