CREB3L1 Antibody (F-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CREB3L1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CREB3L1 (F-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CREB3L1, also known as cAMP-responsive element-binding protein 3-like protein 1 or OASIS (old astrocyte specifically induced substance), is a crucial 519 amino acid transcription factor that plays a significant role in the cellular response to endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress by activating target genes involved in the unfolded protein response. This function is particularly important as CREB3L1 helps maintain cellular homeostasis and prevents apoptosis during stress conditions, especially in astrocytes of the central nervous system. Upon ER stress, CREB3L1 undergoes cleavage by proteases SKI-1 and S2P, allowing N-terminus translocation into the nucleus to initiate protective gene transcription. CREB3L1 increases the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase 1 (NOS1) while downregulating ASCT1, a receptor for Syncytin-1, which shows significant expression in glial cells of individuals with multiple sclerosis. CREB3L1 primarily localizes to the ER membrane under normal conditions, highlighting a role in sensing and responding to cellular stress. Two CREB3L1 isoforms arise from alternative splicing, adding complexity to regulatory functions in various physiological contexts.
