COX6c Antibody (H-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects COX6c protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). COX6c (H-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. COX6c protein, also known as cytochrome c oxidase subunit VIc, is a crucial component of the mitochondrial respiratory chain, specifically part of the oxidative phosphorylation complex IV. COX6c plays a vital role in cellular respiration by facilitating the reduction of molecular oxygen to water, a process essential for ATP generation through the electron transport chain. COX6c subunit is encoded by nuclear genes and is integral to the assembly and regulation of the larger enzyme complex, which consists of 13 subunits, including those encoded by mitochondrial DNA. Proper functioning of COX6c is critical for maintaining the electrochemical gradient across the mitochondrial inner membrane, necessary for ATP synthesis. Human COX6c protein exhibits 77% sequence identity with its mouse counterpart, and research has shown that COX6c gene is upregulated in prostate cancer cells, indicating a potential role in cancer biology. Human COX6c gene is located on chromosome 8q22.2, with a pseudogene, COX6CP1, identified on chromosome 16p12.
