COX17 Antibody (A-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects COX17 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). COX17 (A-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The cytochrome c oxidase (COX) family plays a crucial role in cellular respiration, serving as the final electron donor in the respiratory chain to establish a proton gradient across the inner mitochondrial membrane, which is essential for ATP production. COX17, a nuclear gene product, encodes a mitochondrial copper chaperone protein that is vital for the proper assembly and function of the COX apoenzyme, which is a dimer composed of 13 subunits derived from both mitochondrial and nuclear origins. The importance of COX17 lies in its role in facilitating the transport and incorporation of copper ions into the COX apoenzyme, a process critical for maintaining efficient mitochondrial respiration and overall cellular energy metabolism.
