COMTD1 Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects COMTD1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). COMTD1 (C-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The catechol O-methyltransferase domain-containing protein 1 (COMTD1) is a 262 amino acid single-pass type II membrane protein that plays a significant role in the methylation of catecholamines, which is essential for regulating dopaminergic signaling in the central nervous system. COMTD1 is crucial for the detoxification of catecholamine neurotransmitters, as COMTD1 catalyzes their inactivation, thereby influencing various physiological processes, including mood regulation and cognitive function. A Val158Met polymorphism in the COMT gene can alter enzyme activity, impacting the efficiency of the prefrontal cortex and potentially affecting cognitive performance. COMTD1 exists as a homodimer and is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 10q22.21, highlighting evolutionary significance and potential implications in neuropsychiatric disorders.
