Collectrin, also known as TMEM27 (transmembrane protein 27) or NX17, is a 222 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that plays a crucial role in regulating insulin exocytosis through interaction with Snapin, which is essential for the formation and function of the SNARE complex. This interaction directly influences insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells, thereby impacting glucose homeostasis.
