SEE ALSO...

COL1A Antibody (COL-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects COL1A protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-COL1A antibody (COL-1) is available as the non-conjugated format. COL1A protein, also known as collagen type I alpha 1 chain, is a crucial component of the extracellular matrix and plays a vital role in providing structural support to various tissues, including bone, cartilage, tendon, and skin. A unique triple helix structure is essential for COL1A function, allowing for stable fibril formation that contributes to connective tissue tensile strength. This structural integrity maintains tissue mechanical properties under stress, and mutations or deficiencies in COL1A can lead to conditions like osteogenesis imperfecta, characterized by fragile bones. The extensive collagen protein family, including COL1A, is fundamental to tissue architecture and cellular interactions, making COL1A research significant for understanding various developmental and pathological processes.

For WB, does this antibody only recognizes native proteins? No SDS and reducing reagents in loading buffer?

Asked by: qinggoushi
Thank you for your question. This antibody, COL1A, sc-59772, will only recognize the native form, so yes, do not add SDS or reducing reagents to the loading buffer.

If there any recommandation of secondary antibody for IF?

Asked by: lucky7
Thank you for your question. COL1A Antibody (COL-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1. We recommend using as a secondary antibody for IF, our mouse IgG kappa binding protein (m-IgGκ BP) conjugated to a fluorescent probe such as fluorescein (FITC), m-IgGκ BP-FITC: sc-516140.

Will this antibody stain for secreted fibrillar collagen-1? I'm unsure whether full-length native collagen type-1 means its specific for assembled collagen-1 fibrils. Will it also stain for pro-collagen chains? or only assembled fibrils? Thanks!

Asked by: Benn
Thank you for your question. This COL1A antibody recognises the native (helical) form of collagen type I.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from no good for MEFI bought few weeks ago. I did western blot as soon as I got it. I used this antibody by dilution 1:500. There was no specific collagen band. I only tried MEF lysate. I'm not sure this antibody works for mouse collagen. If anybody knows antibodies for mouse collagen, please give me any information. Thanks,
