COL12A1 Antibody (A-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects COL12A1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). COL12A1 (A-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Collagen Type XII, encoded by the COL12A1 gene, is a significant 3,063 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in the structural integrity of tissues by interacting with type I collagen-containing fibrils. This interaction is vital for maintaining the stability and organization of the extracellular matrix, which is essential for tissue strength and elasticity. Collagen Type XII is classified within the fibril-associated collagens with interrupted helices (FACIT) family and has three identified isoforms, with isoform 1 being the full-length version, while isoforms 2 and 4 lack certain sequences present in isoform 1. Collagen Type XII is particularly noted in collagen type I-containing tissues, such as the amnion, chorion, skeletal muscle, and small intestine, as well as in cultured dermal fibroblasts, keratinocytes, and endothelial cells. Notably, isoform 1 is found in the corneal epithelial Bowman′s membrane and the interfibrillar matrix of the corneal stroma, highlighting its importance in ocular health, while isoform 2 is specifically localized in the lung, placenta, kidney, and certain cancer cell lines.
