SEE ALSO...

COASY Antibody (E-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects COASY protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). COASY (E-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. COASY, also known as coenzyme A synthase, plays a crucial role in biosynthesis of coenzyme A (CoA), a vital cofactor involved in numerous metabolic pathways, including carbohydrate, amino acid, and fatty acid metabolism. COASY exhibits bifunctional enzymatic activity, specifically catalyzing conversion of 4′-phosphopantetheine to dephospho-CoA and subsequently generating CoA, which serves as predominant carrier of acetyl and acyl groups in cellular processes. COASY is primarily localized to outer mitochondrial membrane, where COASY is induced by phospholipids, highlighting COASY′s importance in energy metabolism and cellular function. Additionally, due to alternative splicing, an isoform known as COASY b is expressed in brain, featuring an extra 29 amino acids at N-terminus, which may influence functional properties and interactions within cellular environment.
