    SEE ALSO...

CNG-β3 Antibody (H-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CNG-β3 in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CNG-β3 antibody (H-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CNG-β3, also known as cyclic-nucleotide-gated cation channel beta 3, plays a crucial role in the function of cyclic nucleotide-gated (CNG) cation channels, which are essential for sensory transduction in the olfactory and visual systems. These channels are heteromeric complexes composed of principal alpha subunits and modulatory beta subunits, where the alpha subunits (CNG1-3) can form functional cation channels independently, while the beta subunits (CNG4-6) do not form channels but instead modify the properties of the channels formed by the alpha subunits. CNG-β3 is specifically activated by cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), leading to the depolarization of rod photoreceptors, which is vital for visual signal transduction. CNG-β3 is predominantly expressed in a small subset of retinal photoreceptor cells and in the testis, highlighting its importance in both vision and reproductive biology. Notably, mutations in the gene encoding CNG-β3 can result in achromatopsia, a genetic condition characterized by impaired color vision, low visual acuity, and photophobia, underscoring CNG-β3′s significance in maintaining normal visual function.
