CMV pp72 Antibody (6E1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CMV pp72 protein of CMV origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-CMV pp72 antibody (6E1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cytomegalovirus (CMV), also known as human herpesvirus 5 (HHV-5), is a member of the herpes virus family, which includes other well-known viruses such as herpes simplex virus and Epstein-Barr virus. While CMV typically causes mild symptoms in healthy individuals, CMV can lead to severe complications in immunocompromised patients. CMV pp72 protein plays a crucial role during the viral lifecycle, particularly in the regulation of gene expression. CMV pp72 protein is known to interact with CMV immediate early protein CMV pp86, which is essential for the activation of HLA-G, a non-classical major histocompatibility complex class I molecule. This interaction is significant because HLA-G plays a vital role in immune evasion, allowing the virus to persist in the host by inhibiting the activation of immune responses. The ability of CMV to manipulate host immune mechanisms underscores the importance of studying CMV pp72 protein, as this research may provide insights into potential therapeutic targets for managing CMV infections, especially in vulnerable populations.
