CMV pp72 Antibody (1-K-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a light chain antibody that detects CMV pp72 protein of cytomegalovirus (CMV) by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). CMV pp72 plays a crucial role during active CMV infection, as one of the immediate early proteins that are expressed and is essential for the virus′s ability to manipulate host cell functions. CMV pp72 interacts with another immediate early protein, CMV pp86, to enhance the expression of HLA-G, a non-classical major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecule that helps the virus evade the host′s immune response. CMV pp72 is vital for virus replication and persistence within the host, particularly in immunocompromised individuals, where infection can lead to severe complications.
